Remember the blog post I did last year on “Unwrapped Gifts“? Well, I think it’s about time to do a similar post again.
Seems like so often lately I am relaying God’s message to “stop sitting on your gifts” to my loved ones.
I’m not one to brag but I know some incredibly talented people. They can cook like your great grandma, write amazing stories , proofread like nobody’s business, style your outfits like royalty, make your house look like it belongs on HGTV, and create genius music, etc. They are GIFTED.
But what happens to a GIFT UNWRAPPED? It never gets revealed—- it never gets released— it never goes forth to do or be what it was supposed to be.
It’s been said that the talented place on Earth is the graveyard. Many people die with their dreams and gifts. Never impacting anyone and sadly never even being able to glorify God. How unfortunate is this?
Gifts are supernatural God given abilities. 1 Corinthians Chapter 12 speaks in detail of gifts. It reads as follows:
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.” (1 Corinthians 12: 4-11)
Will you be the one who holds on to your God given gift? The gift that God intended for you to share with the world? Or will you open it and share it with us?
Please, please, please don’t take your gifts for granted. People like me and countless others are depending on them.
